What do management consultants really do?

Ascend’s mentorship program was established two years ago with the purpose of bridging the gap between students who are interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the role of management consultants and the limited opportunities available to explore this field.

Ascend’s mentorship program, which is run over the course of four months during the spring semester, provides students with valuable insights into the life of a management consultant while helping them explore their own ambitions and plans for the future. The program begins by pairing each student with a mentor who provides personalized 1:1 coaching sessions. These sessions are tailored to the student’s specific needs and can cover a range of topics, from interview training to reflecting on future aspirations. In addition to the individual coaching, the program includes interactive group sessions. These sessions feature experts from Ascend who present real-life cases and exercises related to problem-solving and stakeholder management. Through a combination of theory, group exercises, and feedback, students not only gain practical insights into management consulting but also develop important skills for effective communication and collaboration in diverse group settings.

The mentorship program culminates in a final group case, where students work together to solve a challenging problem. The sessions are held at our Stockholm office and are known for their highly interactive and engaging nature. Participants in the program consistently praise the warm and supportive atmosphere, which sets Ascend’s mentorship program apart from others in the industry.
