Get to know Maja Grywenz
When and why did you join Ascend?
I cannot believe that it was only a year ago I joined Ascend. It certainly feels like I’ve been part of this company for much longer and I guess that says a bit about how welcoming and inclusive this company is. After graduating with a degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from Linköping University, I joined a cybersecurity scale-up. Being part of a tech-heavy and fast footed organization was extremely fun and challenging, but I kept feeling like I was unsure of the direction in which I wanted to develop. Therefore, I wanted to broaden my area of expertise, why consulting felt like a given next step. In the jungle of consulting firms out there, I looked for an entrepreneurial and non-hierarchical one, and when I met Ascend, I immediately felt like it was the right fit for me.
What are you doing/have you been involved in at Ascend?
Since joining Ascend, I’ve been part of a large security transformation, learning tons about project-and stakeholder management, always in close collaboration with more senior colleagues. At Ascend, you are always encouraged to shoulder responsibility and ownership, no matter how junior or senior you are. This is one of the many things I believe to be an important factor in the considerably steep learning curve you will have at Ascend.
Last year, me and two other colleagues started Ascend’s first mentorship program, which is a program that introduces students to consulting. The program was initiated as we felt that there was a part missing in our offering towards students and from idea to execution, it took only 6 weeks. I think this demonstrates that at Ascend, everyone can truly make an impact and contribute to building the company and challenge how we do things. This is truly inspiring and one of the many reasons I thrive working at Ascend
What do you think makes Ascend unique?
For me, Ascend is all about the exceptional colleagues. Not a single day goes by without me feeling challenged and inspired by the people I work with. Everyone at Ascend truly lives our core values, Fun, Inclusive and Exceptional, and I am so grateful to work at a place where laughter is a key component of every day.
