Get to know Clara Calmered

I joined Ascend as an Intern during the spring of 2018, a commitment that gave me the first hints of what a management consultant actually does. It also gave me the opportunity to get to know the amazing people working for Ascend. I am not really sure one can ever fully understand the work of a management consultant, but I decided to try and find out once and for all, and hence joined Ascend full-time in August this year.

After years and years of studying, from 1st grade and basic math, up until university and complex financial risk models, I have discovered that the most important thing for me is to constantly develop and feel like I am always moving forward. As an Accelerate at Ascend, I am allowed and encouraged to take responsibility for my own development. Both internally, where I help build the company, and externally where I get to be responsible for key aspects in our client delivery. I always feel like I am getting the support and the help that I need from my colleagues to do the best work that I can.

Every week we sit down and talk about our own motivation and development, and I feel like a cliché when I every week inform my mentors that I am the most motivated that I can be, and that my learning curve is just getting steeper and steeper. To add on to the clichés, I actually laugh a lot at work, and I might just be getting closer to figuring out what a management consultant actually does. We help people and companies solve problems, and it is motivating, developing and fun work!
